Fyfe are proud to announce that Clayton Warner, our General Manager Queensland has won the APGA 2018 Young Achievement Award. Selected by the APGA Board of Directors, judging is based on an individual’s valuable contribution to the pipeline industry, innovative approach, leadership potential and excellent communication skills.
Clayton has been with Fyfe for 12 years, and is an experienced Project Manager and Process Engineer. Within ten years, Clayton was appointed General Manager of our Queensland operations, leading a team of more than 50 staff. At the age of 33, he was the youngest person in Fyfe’s history to hold an executive position.
His project management and specialist skills in the design of pipelines, facilities and upstream gathering systems, complemented by extensive in-the-field experience with operating companies, make his contribution to the pipeline industry well rounded and informed.
Clayton also played an active leadership role in the Queensland Young Pipeliners’ Forum, an affiliate of the Australian Pipelines and Gas Association for the under 35s. He was a member of the forum committee for eight years and the Queensland Representative for three years of that time. The YPF provides a means for young people involved in the pipeline and gas industry to get together and to organise events where they learn from more experienced pipeliners and have fun. It is through the activities of the Young Pipeliners’ Forum and APGA that has given Clayton the opportunity to build his network and relationships with his peers throughout the energy industry – he has invested time to develop his career.
In addition to this, Clayton has actively pursued opportunities for professional development and training, such as educational scholarships, attending conferences and programs and embracing speaking opportunities.
Clayton believes his leadership strength resides in this ability to understand people, their needs and what drives them. He prides himself on leading from the front and having the strong technical background, and strong relationships within the industry, that allow people to look up to him.
Fyfe is enormously proud of Clayton and his achievements and look forward to seeing what the future has in store for him.
