Fyfe showcases integrated services at Property Council of Victoria Golf Day

Fyfe was proud to sponsor the Property Council of Australia’s (PCA) Annual Golf Day, held at the prestigious Woodlands Golf Club in Victoria. The Fyfe team showcased advanced technologies that provide invaluable insights for developers and planners.

Driving innovation from tee to terrain

Survey technology: Golfers and attendees saw first-hand how Fyfe’s GPS and laser scanning equipment contributes to better execution — be it for large-scale development, or in this case, the perfect drive. This was apparent when our team measured the longest drive in our ‘ping the distance’ competition. The winner measured 276 metres.

Site history: Many sites that we explore have fascinating histories where we use historical records and survey photography to determine past land uses such as former industrial areas, old farmland, or even historical landmarks. While Woodlands Golf Club has a clean land history, it was established in 1913 on a tract of land known as “Mayfield.” Our research and technology illustrate this transformation, providing a unique perspective on how historical land use impacts modern developments.

Fly-through visualisation: Additionally, our fly-through video demonstrates practical applications beyond the golf course. Developers and planners will gain insights into how our technology supports master planning, subdivision layouts, flood studies, and contamination risk assessment.

Soil classification and contamination management: Early involvement in projects is crucial for soil classification and contamination management. Our integrated teams have found large projects often require significant soil remediation. Early engagement helps avoid costly mistakes and ensures all necessary environmental and structural requirements are met, preventing delays and additional expenses.

Brownfield and infill projects: Brownfield and infill projects are particularly suited to our services, as these sites often have complex contamination issues that require expert management. Significant cost savings are achieved by managing contaminated materials on-site rather than disposing of them. Collaboration with planners and other stakeholders is essential to optimise site use and master planning, ensuring contaminated areas are effectively managed and integrated into the overall project design.

A hole in one for smarter land development

The PCA Golf Day is more than just a sporting event; it’s a platform for innovation, education, and relationship-building. Fyfe is excited to share our knowledge and demonstrate the real-world impact of our integrated services and technology.

A common challenge in development projects is the lack of comprehensive geotechnical and environmental assessments, leading to costly delays and remediation. Fyfe’s involvement in early-stage surveying helps mitigate these risks, ensuring smoother project execution.
