Fyfe sets an annual program of Professional Development activities including tailored technical training and lunch and learns where you will learn technical and interpersonal skills required for future business development opportunities and achieving professional accreditation.
At Fyfe we pair technical training with soft skill development through our core competencies, which apply to all employees regardless of their role and seniority.
At Fyfe, we understand the importance of gaining quality work experience during your final years of Tafe or university, so you are best prepared for a successful career ahead.
That is why we offer a 4–12-weeks’ paid work experience program. During this time, you will get to work on real projects with mentoring and guidance from some of the best people in the business, broadening your career options when you complete your studies. Depending on your course requirements, you can get the work experience you need to complete your degree/s.
Fyfe’s graduate program has been a great safety net for starting my professional career as an engineer, allowing me to work on projects and expand my knowledge with senior managers ready to help along the way. In my time at Fyfe so far, I have worked on a variety of projects in a multidisciplinary environment alongside a great team and manager with over 30 years of experience in the industry. Our office is home to lots of young people and a great culture, making it a welcoming and fun place to work. I chose Fyfe because of the size of the company and calibre of staff. I encourage graduates to take every opportunity you can to network, because you never know when you might meet someone who can help you with career progression.
My time at Fyfe has been very valuable in providing a practical, real-world implementation of the theoretical concepts that I have learnt at university. As someone who learns best by doing, Fyfe has been a great opportunity to thrive in a practical and real-world professional environment. I am able to work on a large variety of projects all across Australia, and with advanced technology including drones, LiDAR units, GPS and 3D modelling software. For example, an exciting project I have worked on involved surveying of several waste facility sites for the purpose of monitoring stockpile volumes and monitoring the overall progress of the waste facility site. Not only is the work stimulating, but Fyfe has an excellent workplace culture, with everyone having the shared goal of providing high quality work for our clients.
