Beach Energy – HAZOP, P&IDs and Layout Drawings

Fyfe has been engaged by Beach Energy, a long-term client, to provide a range of services across seven of the energy company’s facilities in the Cooper Basin.

The project will involve Fyfe’s survey, design and engineering departments working in tandem to deliver accurate and reliable information about the infrastructure and services in each facility.

In addition, Fyfe will also lead and facilitate Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP) studies for each of these Beach Energy-owned assets.

Overview

For each of these facilities, Fyfe will provide:

  • Layout drawings
  • P&IDs
  • The facilitation of HAZOP studies
Layout drawings

Fyfe’s engineering design team will generate highly accurate as-built layout drawings for each facility.

The information in these drawings will come from in-depth surveys that will capture all the critical features to a high level of accuracy. Our survey team will use both drone capture and traditional ground-based survey techniques to collect the required data.

Aerial imagery of each facility, taken from several angles, will provide additional information and reference for future projects.

Each layout drawing will display critical information including, but not limited to:

  • The location of emergency shutdown devices, fire extinguishers and safety showers
  • Notation of major cable trays, skimming platforms, flowline and pipeline corridors, wellheads and associated equipment
  • Equipment and valve numbers
Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

Fyfe will provide read-line markup (RLMU) P&IDs — graphical representations of the pipes and any related components of a physical process flow —that accurately capture the as-built status of each Cooper Basin facility.

Fyfe’s survey, engineering and design teams follow stringent standards when producing P&IDs. Each diagram meets and exceeds Australian regulatory requirements and passes through our own internal quality assurance process.

HAZOP studies

Fyfe will lead and manage HAZOP studies in each of the seven facilities. To ensure that the HAZOP sessions will not interfere with general business as usual on-site, Fyfe’s team will take a flexible approach and deliver the workshops at times, and across a period, that best suits our client.

In addition to facilitating each HAZOP session, Fyfe will also deliver:

  • Consolidated minutes from each session from each site
  • In-depth HAZOP reports for each facility that highlight and identify key discussions and outcomes

With over 20 years of experience working in the Cooper Basin, our knowledge of the area’s specific concerns and requirements, alongside the value offered through our integrated services, means Fyfe is uniquely placed to assist Beach Energy on this project.

If your company needs assistance with any of the services described above, or with other professional services in the energy, infrastructure, or defence sectors, please get in touch with our team.
