Women in Resources

It was great to see some of Fyfe’s female employees get behind a South Australian Chamber of Mines & Energy (SACOME) initiative, helping highlight and encourage women in resources.

Rosie Vakasilimi, Fyfe Civil Engineer, shared some insight for her journey and experiences. Rosie studied Ocean Engineering at the Australian Maritime College in Tasmania before moving to Adelaide and commencing her masters. She joined Fyfe through work experience before being offered a position as a Graduate Civil Engineer.

“There’s a great sense of achievement in my role, especially when you get to see a project from design to construction to final completion and working with other parts of the business like the survey and environment groups,” Rosie reflects. Whilst there are still few women in the industry, it is pleasing to see those numbers starting to increase. Fyfe is committed to increasing female attraction to and retention in the industry.
